Ross Burkhalter Trustee—Linda Kerkman Trustee—Leon Gentrup Trustee—Jerry Schmit Bob continued to give us a pep talk on recruiting new members; telling uss that all clubs have the same issues and encouraging us to go first to previous members, have interesting programs, and everyone should try to invite someone new. He encouraged us to think outside the box. We could go to the USA site for ideas in the “program section.” He suggested utilizing the Benedictine Sisters and Sister Roseanne Ocken in particular. New Business—The gavel was turned over to Ivan Van Dyke and he presided over the rest of the meeting. Father Ross mentioned that he will celebrate his 25th anniversary as a priest. He said he may have to step down from his position as our chaplain because he is always scheduled for the 5:30 PM mass and that necessitates speeding to get here by 7:00 PM. It also means that he is celebrating three masses that day and the priests really aren’t supposed to have three masses in one day. He suggested we start looking for a new chaplain. Marilyn Kathol expressed gratitude to Father Ross for his service and will ask Father Scott if he will consider taking over as chaplain. Mary Van Dyke presented information about the book, A Living Sacrifice: Guidance for Men Discerning Religious Life, written by Fr. Benedict Croell, O.P. and Fr. Andrew Hofer, O.P, which is recommended by Serra International. Ivan said he would buy the book and Mary will present it to the club for consideration. A schedule was passed around for bringing food for future meetings. Nancy Rice and Ree Riley signed up for the July 11th meeting. August 13th will be the Seminarians’ picnic—everyone is to bring salads and desserts. September is the Sister’s Luncheon and the menu is to be planned later. October 10th is Nancy Scheacher. November 7th is Priests appreciation Dinner to be catered. December meeting is not planned for sure. January is Game night with the sisters; everyone is to bring party snack foods. February 13th meeting is Marilyn Kathol. Closing—We prayed the Serran Prayer for Perseverance. The meeting was adjourned. |
